Part 1 of a 3-part series:Â Tips to recognize domestic violence.
If you are a victim of domestic violence or abuse or have been served with a temporary civil protection order against you, please contact Lardiere McNair to schedule an appointment and seek legal advice. Domestic violence or abuse can be physical; mental or financial.
Some tips to help recognize whether you or a loved one is being subject to Domestic Violence or abuse can include:
The Victim seems afraid of their partner or is always very anxious to please him or her.
The Victim has stopped seeing their friends or family.
The Victim cuts phone conversations short when their partner is in the room.
The Victim’s partner often criticizes them or humiliates them in front of other people.
The Victim is pressured or forced to do sexual things.
The Victim has no control over their money or financial decisions, for even the most basic things.
The Victim has physical injuries (bruises, broken bones, sprains, cuts etc).
There are various local and national organizations and resources to assist victims of domestic violence. These include:
The National Domestic Violence Hotline.
